In years past, the team with the worst record had only a 25% chance, followed by a 19.9% chance and 15.6% chance for the following two teams.
Now finally lets look at the odds!!

Chet has arguably the highest ceiling in the NBA Draft and looks to be the man who will be picked first in the NBA Draft. His ability to shoot 41% from the 3 as a 7-foot center will do wonders for any NBA team that picks him up. And, that could be the rockets. Who may look to move on from Christian Wood in the future to fully engulf this roster in young talent.
Paolo Banchero/ PF
Next to Chet, Paolo looks to be the next best in the draft. After coming off an impressive March Madness campaign, he has shown why he could have a high ceiling in the league. And like other power forwards in the league, such as Anthony Davis. He grew up as a point guard and had a growth spurt to 6-10. He has offensive versatility that any team could use.
At Purdue, many NBA scouts were worried about his ability to keep the ball and secure possessions. He may have a high turnover rate, but if the Pistons do end up with the third pick in the draft. This could be an essential pick for them going into the next season. Playing with a great playmaker in Cade could turn this duo into a scary one for the NBA.
Jabari Smith Jr/PF
OKC could be a lock to get the 4th pick in the draft as they are one of the worst teams in the league. With that being said, If OKC can stumble upon Jabari, who at a time was said to go first in the draft. They could have an almost complete starting lineup. Shai, Tre Mann, and Giddey have set an excellent foundation at OKC. could Jabari be that forward they need?
Now, many of you may be asking? Why is Shaedon Sharpe so high in the draft? He was the number 1 ranked player out of Highschool with the potential to be a Ja Morant guard with a high ceiling and ability to explode to the rim at any moment. While some don’t know his potential out of Highschool whatever team takes this risk will surely be rewarded.
With the NBA Draft lottery tonight and the start of the Eastern Conference finals, we are in for a spectacular night of NBA action.
What time does Celtics vs. Heat start?
Date: Tuesday, May 17
Time: 8:30 p.m. ET | 5:30 p.m. PT
Quick Hits Preview: Tonight, the Boston Celtics have the chance to begin their campaign back to the NBA finals. They have not made the NBA finals since 2010. But remember that they were very close in 2018, where we saw the young future stars in Tatum and Brown almost hand Lebron James the first conference finals loss of his career. With the Celtics more experienced and looking like a defensive juggernaut, the Miami Heat may be up for an exciting and challenging task in this series.
For the second time in three seasons, the Miami Heat are back in the East Conference finals behind Jimmy Butler; this team looks like a formidable opponent for the Boston Celtics. The Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics have played each other three times this year, with the Celtics taking 2 of those games.
Prediction: Boston Celtics Game 1 Win by ten or more points. The Boston Celtic’s defense has looked to dominate in this playoff run as of late. Locking Down Giannis and Kevin Durant in the last two rounds. And, with the Miami Heat’s sometimes stagnant offense. It may be a challenge for them tonight.
Stay tuned later for Quick Hits Results after the game!
Tonight, we are finally graced with the best time of the year for most NBA fans. The NBA Play-In offers just the right amount of excitement for even the playoff-only NBA fans. Since this will be the first year that SportsGotNext will be covering the playoffs, we will be doing a breakdown and prediction video/write-up for this year’s playoffs! Without further ado let’s get into the first night of the Play-In!
Nets vs Cavs
Brooklyn Nets Preview (44-38)
This year has been a wild and unexpected season for the Brooklyn nets, but some lights started to shine for them near the end. On paper, this team should be a top 3 team in the east. The injuries of Kevin Durant nearing the All-Star Break and a little after it deterred the team. Not to mention the Kyrie Irving vacation saga, he is now allowed to play at home which is a huge boost for the Nets coming into the Play-In and Playoffs. Joe Harris is still out and won’t be active. He has been out since November 15th dealing with an ankle injury. Ben Simmons is likely going to play next season even if the Nets do make the finals this season.
Cleveland Cavs Preview (44-38)
The Cavs being at the 8th seed doesn’t matter when it comes to how great this team has been this season. Even with the injury of Colin Sexton early in the season, many thought that the year was over for the Cavs. They were wrong, everything worked well for the Cavs. Jarrett Allen became an all-star; Darius Garland became an all-star. Evan Mobley has played fantastic this season and is more than likely going to win the ROTY. With Jarrett Allen out, this game will be tough for the Cavs. When the Nets and Cavs played each other on April 8th. They defeated the Cavs 107-118. That game feels more like a preview before the play-in. But I fully expect that game to reflect this play-in game. Meaning, a dominating win from the Nets who in my opinion shouldn’t be this low in the standings in the first place.
Clippers vs Timberwolves
Los Angeles Clippers Preview (42-40)
The Los Angeles Clippers have been able to tread the waters of good and bad the entire season. The Clippers were graced with the return of Paul George as the season was nearing the end. Which, in turn, helped them make the Play-In. Kawhi has been rumored to be making his return if the Clippers do make the playoffs.
Minnesota Timberwolves (46-36)
The Timberwolves are looking to finally make the playoffs again, this time under a promising “big 3” in Anthony Edwards, Karl Anthony Towns, and D’Angelo Russell. The matchups between this team have been very interesting this season because none of the games has been close. In their last matchup on January 3rd, the Timberwolves won 122-104. While in the matchup before that. On November 13th the Timberwolves lost to the Clippers 129-102. This should be an overall great matchup as it’s unpredictable who the favorite in this matchup is. But, with more power in the tank in this matchup. Here at SGN, we predict the Timberwolves to win.
