The Hawks come into this game after defeating the pelicans in what Trae called it, “closer than it should have been.” Tonight, they play the Wizards who come off a win themselves vs the Celtics. Each team comes into this game 3-1 an ideal start for both teams.
Pistons vs 76ers
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: 76ers
Tonight’s mission for the 76ers is just to win. After losing in a disappointing way vs the Knicks they just need a win to build the confidence that was shattered by the Knicks on Tuesday. Embiid is going to look to come back into form after dropping only 14 points, and 10 of those were free throws.
Jazz vs Rockets
Time: 8 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Rockets
The Jazz come into this contest undefeated and look to smash this young Rockets squad. The Rockets come into this contest 1—3, having their only win so far be against another young team in the thunder. This trip for the Rockets will a test for them, as they face the jazz tonight. The Lakers back-to-back, Suns, Nuggets, and Warriors.
Knicks vs Bulls
Time: 8 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Knicks
The Knicks are one of the most exciting teams coming into this early season. They just look different than what they did last season. The pace is faster, the defense is better, and they finally added more scoring to what Julius proved last season. The Bulls also have a great Big 3, this is going to be a fun matchup.
Spurs vs Mavs
Time: 8:30 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Mavs
The Mavs come off a test against the Rockets, this will be a great game for the Mavs as they look to destroy this young Spurs team that is badly looking for an identity in this league.
Grizzlies’ vs Warriors
Time: 10 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Warriors
A matchup that we saw in the second edition of the play in’s. This will be a fun game that gives us the matchup of Ja vs Steph. The “now” vs the “future” of the league.
Orlando, FL – JULY 31: Ja Morant #12 of the Memphis Grizzlies and Damian Lillard #0 of the Portland Trail Blazers look on during a game on July 31, 2020 at The Arena at ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. 76ers: Tobias Harris: 23 points, 9 Ast and Rebounds
Knicks: Kemba Walker: 19 points, 5 Ast and 3 Rebounds
This game was the Knicks fest from the very start, at a point embiid was 0-5. He had 7 points at the half, but those were all from free throws. Mitch had him on lockdown the entire night. Embiid was just nowhere to be found, and that goes for the entire 76ers team. They just looked lost the entire night and the Knicks were able to take over. This is the first time since 2017 that the Knicks have beaten the 76ers.
Warriors defeat the Thunder: 106-98
Top scorer for each team
Warriors: Stephen Curry: 23 points, 4 Ast and 6 Rebounds
Thunder: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 30 points, 4 Ast, and 1 Rebound
The Warriors get a close win against the Thunder, Shai offered much of the offense tonight as he tried to defend and score over Steph curry. Both of them had a great night.
Lakers defeat the Spurs: 125-121
Top scorer for each team
Lakers: Anthony Davis – 35 points, 4 Ast and 17 Rebounds
Spurs: Jakob Poeltl – 27 points, 14 Rebounds
Tonight, the Lakers cut it super close. Having to go out to face the Spurs without LeBron. It was a challenge that many didn’t expect. But having to go in OT with this squad behind AD’s 35 and Russ 33 was something that the Lakers needed tonight.
Mavs defeat the Rockets: 116-106
Top scorer for each team
Mavs: Luka Dončić – 26 points, 7 Ast and 14 Rebounds
Rockets: Christian Wood – 16 points, 3 Ast and 17 Rebounds
The Mavs came into this contest looking to dominate after showing a ton of flaws vs the Hawks in their season opener. Luka played fantastic tonight and showed the development that he took over the summer. The Rockets also looked great; they are a young squad so they have a lot to learn.
Jazz defeats the Nuggets: 122-110
Top scorer for each team
Jazz: Rudy Gobert – 23 points, 16 Rebounds
Nuggets: Nikola Jokić – 24 points, 5 Ast and 6 Rebounds
One of the biggest takeaways was how well the Nuggets were able to stay in this game coming into the fourth without Nikola Jokić. Jokić ended up getting hurt after playing 15 minutes. He scored 24 points, exited at the half, and was still the high scorer. That just shows you how great he is, he was missed in the last few minutes.
Hornets: Miles Bridges – 32 points, 2 Ast and 9 Rebounds
Nets: Kevin Durant – 38 points, 3 Ast and 5 Rebounds
The Hornets did exactly what I expected them to do at that was tear the Nets apart. This was in a better fashion than the win against the Nets in December of 2020 when they defeated them by 2 points. The Hornets were just all on one thought process tonight and that makes a statement and that’s what they did.
Magic defeats the Knicks – 110-104
Top scorer for each team
Magic: Cole Anthony – 29 points, 8 Ast, and 16 Rebounds
Knicks: Julius Randle – 30 points, 3 Ast and 16 Rebounds
The Knicks played well tonight until the 4th quarter well they just lost all accord. This allowed Terrence ross to take over and just control the entire 4th quarter. This isn’t something new with the Knicks and the Magic. Almost every year when they play, the Knicks get ahead. Lose focus and then get destroyed by Terrence Ross, it never fails.
The 76ers tonight were controlled by Seth Curry who was able to control the 76ers the entire night. The 76ers look to build upon what they have until Ben ultimately returns when he’s mentally ready.
Rockets: Jalen Green – 30 points, 3 Ast and 4 Rebounds
This game was all about the Rockets and Jalen Green. Even though they lost, this game was all about him. In the first two games, his career-high was 9 points. But he was so hot from 3 tonight that his career-high was bound to hit the 20’s or mid 20’s. But he over exceed that and dropped 30 tonight.
Warriors’ defeat the Kings – 119 – 107
Top scorer for each team
Warriors’: Stephen Curry – 27 points, 10 Ast and 7 Rebounds
The Kings have such a special guard on their hands. If Fox and Davion can become all-star quality talents this could be a special backcourt. Davion has everything that you would want out of a young guard. Incredible defense and great offense, currently he’s my rookie of the year.
Lakers defeat the Grizzlies’ – 121 – 118
Top scorer for each team
Lakers: Carmelo Anthony – 28 points, 1 Ast and 3 Rebounds
Grizzlies’: Ja Morant – 40 points, 10 Ast and 3 Rebounds
Ja Morant controlled this game, he had the Lakers on the ropes the entire night. But man, watching Carmelo Anthony become the 2013 Melo again was just fascinating to watch. Tonight, Melo dropped a season-high 28 points, helped this lakers team get their first win as a new team. Including the preseason, and he became 9th on the most scoring list. This was a great night for melo.
Here is your team of the week as of today October 24th 2021! This week covers the start of the NBA season oct. 19th 2021 till today!
This will be a weekly thing that will be covered here on SportsGotNext! These are concept cards, showing the best player in (my opinion) for the week. This page will show the player and there best player of the week!
Starting at Point guard! Steph Curry
In these first two NBA games, he proved why hes one of the best guards in the NBA. Maybe even the best, in his last game he dropped 45 points and 25 in the first quarter! The Warriors currently sit 2-0 because of him
His game against the Knicks made him a lock for this weeks team of the week. 46 points, in 46 minutes against the Knicks after just coming out of Quarantine is absolutely incredible.
Since we had brown, i really wanted to find a way to get Herro on this list. And yes he does play SF! In the first two games he has dropped 27 against the bucks and 30 against the Pacers. He has exceeded expectations in this week first of NBA ball. Don’t be shocked if you see him on this life for weeks to come.
Paul George had a great first week of basketball hes dropped 29 against the Warriors in a strong showing. And went off for 41 against the Grizzlies. These are common things for George, but now that Kawhi is out for the season im expecting this to be a normal thing.
what a sequence at STAPLES…Paul George toughhhh bucket for 41, then Ja sets up JJJ for the dagger. Grizz win. pic.twitter.com/MmGPhX71eI
Now this week, the showing from Centers wasn’t really that groundbreaking. But when it comes to rebounding you can always count on Rudy. He didn’t have many highlight plays, but here is Rudy talking with Holly Rowe in french!
Holly Rowe speaking in french at the end of the Rudy Gobert interview, that was awesome pic.twitter.com/zYPh6RKsG7
The Hornets look fantastic at the start of this season. I expect this game to be like the way that the nets game was for them last season. Where we saw the Hornets clinch a win against the Nets 106-104 in December 2020.
The Nets continue their games without an all-star point guard in Kyrie Irving. They would be coming into this contest 0-2 if it wasn’t for the mess up of the 76ers. Which has become very common for them, losing in the last few minutes. The 76ers were able to take advantage of it.
Magic vs Knicks
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Knicks
Not many talking points when it comes to this series, the last game the Knicks made franchise history. Dropping 24 threes in a game where the Knicks were all on figures from the very start of the night.
76ers vs Thunder
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: 76ers
The 76ers made maybe one of the biggest blunders of this season so far. Letting the Nets come back and take over against them on Friday night. Tonight they look to bounce back, against a young Thunder team.
Celtics vs Rockets
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Celtics
The Celtics are badly looking for a win, the first game against the Knicks took a lot of fight out of their hearts early this season. A blowout loss against the young Raptors 115-83 made it even worse. Tonight, they play the Rockets, another young team. Let’s see if they can take over.
Warriors’ vs Kings
Time: 9 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Warriors
The Warriors come off a great game against the Clippers where we saw curry do curry things. Tonight, they look to knock off another young team in the Kings. The Kings come off a close loss vs the Jazz in a 110-101 showing.
Grizzlies’ vs Lakers
Time: 9:30pm Est
Predicted Winner: Lakers
The Lakers need a win, and BADLY. They must find some grounding with this team, obviously, we have 80 games left but man. They’re going to have to figure out things soon before this season gets out of hand. This is the issue with bringing in a bunch of players that are just jammed together with no chemistry.
The Knicks had possibly one of the best games in the NBA in years against the Celtics. This game had it all, suspense, back and forth scoring with big and small stars going at it. The Knicks look to continue this path with a win against the Magic tonight.
The Magic lost their first game against the Spurs in a disgusting fashion, they have two back-to-back games against the Knicks, so they look to at least get one game.
Hornets’ vs Cavs
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Hornets
The Hornets are coming off a thriller against the Pacers, defeating them 123-122 in the first game of the season. Tonight, against the Cavs they face their equal in the East. A team that was bad for a while but is finally starting to add pieces to their core to get into the playoffs. Melo ended that night with 31 points 7 Ast and 9 Rebounds. A Absolutely great performance I expect the same for tonight.
The Cavs have one of the best Sf, PF, C big man combinations in the league on paper, losing to the grizzlies was tough for them, they are looking to come out with a vengeance tonight.
Pacers vs Wizards
Time: 7 pm Est
Predicted Winner: Wizards
Pacers lost a close game to the Hornets, with the scoring of Domantas Sabonis dropping 33 and 15 Rebounds but that wasn’t enough. They look to defeat the Wizards tonight.
The Wizards look great, after defeating the Raptors you can tell they have something nice behind them. And honestly, for the first time. Outside of John Wall and Russ, Beal might finally have some help. Spencer, Kuzma, and Harrell are great pieces for them this season.
Nets vs 76ers
Time: 7:30pm Est
Predicted Winner: Nets
The Nets come off an underwhelming performance against the Bucks, all I can say is that they badly need kyrie. And obviously, the chemistry, Harden, and KD even though it’s been years since the OKC days. They still haven’t played with each other in so long, KD is a champion and an MVP now. Harden is one of the greatest scoring guards ever. Things will come for them eventually.
The 76ers are currently dealing with their Ben Simmons issue. And speaking of, this morning Ben told everyone on the 76ers that he’s ready to return but he’s not mentally ready. This is something he should have done from the start, or better yet. Just accepted that he messed up, and then develop his game.
Raptors vs Celtics
Time: 7pm Est
Predicted Winner: Celtics
Celtics have a sour taste in their mouths due to the loss vs the Knicks. But man, did yall see what Jaylen Brown did this week? Hint: he’s definitely in this week, a team of the week. Dropping 46 points in 46 minutes in a double OT thriller after JUST coming out of quarantine is insane.
The Raptors are young now, getting thrashed by the Wizards is something we may come to expect as these guys develop into their own.
Thunder vs Rockets
Time: 8pm Est
Predicted Winner: Rockets
The Thunder and Rockets both have two of the most exciting players in the league right now. Especially at the guard spot. Josh Giddy for the Thunder and my personal favorites KPJ, Josh Christopher and Jalen Green.
Pelicans’ vs Bulls
Time: 8pm Est
Predicted Winner: Bulls
The Bulls have one of my favorite cores in the league right now. Lonzo, Demar, and Lavine. Lets see how they carry this tonight for the Pelicans.
Spurs vs Nuggets
Time: 9pm Est
Predicted Winner: Nuggets
The Nuggets continue to look like favorites in the West after their first win against the Suns. Who I feel like they would have defiantly been in the finals over them if Jamal was healthy.
Jazz vs Kings
Time: 10pm Est
Predicted Winner: Jazz
The feel the same way about the Jazz that I do with the Nuggets, you know what this team brings to the court every night. The Jazz has blossomed as front runners in the West since the bubble playoffs. This team is special and will dominate tonight.
Suns vs Lakers
Time: 10pm Est
Predicted Winner: Lakers
The Lakers are still getting it together, it was a bad performance from Russ in the opening night, but it happens. But Russ must figure out things quickly. Because him chucking up shots and turning over the ball is going to cost them every single night.
Hawks: Trae Young – 19 points, 14 Ast and 2 Rebounds
Mavs: Luka Dončić – 18 points, 7 Ast and 11 Rebounds
What a showing for the Atlanta Hawks, this was a blowout the entire game. The Mavs just weren’t there tonight. This isn’t concerning since it is just the first game, but Jason Kidd better finds a solution soon because Trae young is looking to be a better fit than Luka can ever dream of.
The Hawks played incredibly well; I want to focus on Cam Reddish who is only 22 years old. Last season he was injured for most of the season, so I don’t count that. This season though he has already started off fantastic. Recording 20/1/3 on a night where he came off the bench. He’s going to be special with this Hawks team.
Another blowout game, but this one is a little different. At one point it was 17-40 in the first. This game was over in the first 5 minutes of the game. The Miami Heat had this game circled on their calendar since it was announced. And it showed, the Bucks played horrible. This could have just been an off night for the Bucks’ But this game shows that the Bucks have some competition in the East other than the Nets when they get their rotation together.
Warriors defeat the Clippers: 115-113
Top scorer for each team:
Clippers: Paul George – 29 points, 6 Ast and 11 Rebounds
Warriors: Stephen Curry – 45 points, 1 Ast and 10 Rebounds
Steph Curry had one of the greatest halves of his career ever and starting season quarters for that matter. Last night he dropped 25 points in the first quarter!! Yes, you read that right, he was absolutely insane last night. Shooting on 9-9 he couldn’t be stopped. This is also the first time that curry has made his first 10 shots in his career, so you knew tonight was going to be special.
The Warriors had this game on lock until the mid-third quarter where the clippers crawled back to make this a back-and-forth game. Paul George was able to carry this squad as far as he could, but who else is there to help him? The Clippers need that extra push while Kawhi is out for the potential season, so expect some changes to occur.
